This is the class you wish existed when you were a kid.

Who We Are

Meet the Founder

I'm Kara. For 5 years, I've been a school teacher to children ages 3 to 11, and for 9 years I've worked as a yoga and breathwork guide. Across both, I've watched the same thing happen over and over: people who are taught a few simple tools — a breath pattern, a grounding movement — can shift out from fight or flight into rest and digest in minutes. Research points to early childhood as the most important window for building self-regulation skills — the earlier we learn them, the more natural they become.

Most classrooms are focused on what kids can produce — not on teaching them how their bodies actually work, or how to work with them. That's the gap Roots Regulation was built to fill.

Each class blends movement, breath, and play into a toolkit kids can actually use — to calm down before a meltdown, focus before a game, or just feel more at home in their own skin. These aren't abstract ideas. They're physical practices kids can return to anywhere, anytime.

I've seen these tools work on my students — and on myself. The people who thrive aren't the ones with the most willpower — they're the ones who know how to access the tools.

OUR APPROACH

Built for the Whole Nervous System

Roots Regulation isn't just breathing exercises. Each class blends movement, breath, and stillness, because regulation isn't one skill — it's a full-body practice kids build muscle memory for, not just something they're told to do.

Tools That Travel

What happens in class doesn't stay in class. Every session sends kids home with something tangible — a card, a cue, a practice — so the tools show up at the dinner table, before a test, or in the middle of a hard moment, not just when we gather.

Designed to Grow With Them

This isn't a one-time workshop. Classes run in seasonal sessions, so kids return to the same tools again and again, deepening their practice as they grow — the same way they'd build any other skill.
